Aurora, ON – Friends of We Care Foundation Inc. is celebrating 31 years of Making Dreams Come True for children with disabilities. Through the generous support of the foodservice and hospitality industry, a cheque for over $1 million will be presented to The Easter Seals Society of Canada on Saturday, May 24th, 2014. Citytv’s Breakfast Television host Kevin Frankish will emcee the event, which will include entertainment by singer-songwriter Justin Hines. The contributions generated through Friends of We Care will assist in sending Canadian children with disabilities to special camps this summer.
The Friends of We Care Gala will take place at the International Centre, Entrance One, 6900 Airport Road, Mississauga. The evening starts at 5:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception and silent auction, followed by dinner, awards and dancing commencing at 7:00 p.m.
Friends of We Care Inc. is an organization within the foodservice and hospitality industry which is dedicated to raising funds for The Easter Seals Society of Canada, assisting to send Canadian children with disabilities to summer camps. Since its inception, Friends of We Care has generated over seventeen and half million dollars, sending over 40,000 children with disabilities to specialized summer camps across Canada.
Combined with the cheque presentation, members of the foodservice and hospitality industry will be recognized for their significant contributions to the industry and the community in general. The awards and recipients to be presented include:
The Corporate Friends of We Care Award: This award will be presented to Saputo Dairy Products Canada G.P. for their ongoing corporate commitment to Easter Seal children and their families through Friends of We Care Inc.
We Care Hall of Fame: This award will be presented to two individuals this year – John Rothschild and Nick Perpick, recognizing them for their significant contributions to the growth and development of the foodservice and hospitality industry.
The Gary Wright Humanitarian Award: This award is named in honour of the founder of Friends of We Care Inc., and will be presented to David Abrams. David has been an incredible contributor to Friends of We Care and has dedicated a big part of his humanitarian efforts towards the development and success of children with disabilities.
